Mark Thorley has fundraised from the age of six of his own accord, with the desire to raise money for projects that have a direct impact on children and families in the North East. As a result of his hard work over the last ten years, he has been recognised as a Champion Fundraiser in the upcoming Diana Awards.

Diana Awards are handed to courageous, caring and compassionate young people who are transforming the lives of others in the name of Diana, Princess of Wales. Holders share a deep sense of social responsibility; they could be giving up their time to mentor other students, a young carer, taking part in anti-bullying initiatives, fundraising or campaigning for a cause close to their heart. In Mark’s case, he has been working tirelessly to raise money in inventive and colourful ways (including getting covered in rainbow powder during the Colour Run!) and is truly a positive role model for adopted children.

Some of his other rewarding fundraising events include walking coast to coast following Hadrian’s Wall, which he completed last summer. As a result of his efforts, he has even been able to buy a tap for a small village in Swaziland to provide clean running water for less fortunate families.
